Steve – I recognize Bill K but who is the guy on your left? Is that 10th Avenue near Sherman Street? – TR Ryan, 15th Street Boy & Farrells Hockey guy.
Steve said:
Martin Cottingham; nephew of Betty, Gerard, Bobby and Michael Trapp. Great family…

Mike played for Holy Name in the early – mid 60’s and wore #9 in honor of Bob Pettit – St. Louis Hawks. Gerard, of course, was the best player to ever come out of the neighborhood. But neither one of them held the scoring record for Holy Name…Billy Maurey of 13th Street did. Now I am trying to place you, Steve. Did you play in the summer league against Farrells when they had Charlie Kawas, Corrado, George Ruthven, etc. Your team had a nice ball-handler, can’t remember his name but he dated Maura Santos from 17th Street at that time.

OMG ! How are you Maureen? I have such pleasant memories of you. One of them is this – you may not remember but I never knew what a lesbian was until you explained it to me. Summer of 1966. There were two girls making out near the bandshell on 9th Street. You were like ‘lesbians’ and I was like ‘whats that’? Hope that you are well. It is great to hear from you.

Good stuff…
I recall learning/hearing about “queer.”
Witnessed two guys holdings hands, someone shouted, “Look at the queers!” I was like, what?

I am good TR, good to see you here…if it was the summer of 66, I was most likely parroting something I had heard because I don’t think I had a clear understanding at that time….btw, I bought your book years ago and really enjoyed it 🙂

TR wrote a book?

Wahahahahah. At work, laughing out loud. But you still didn’t tell me if you played hoops against Farrells when they had George Ruthven, Charlie Kawas, Marty Lake, Corrado, etc. If you did,who was that ballhandler on your team? he was dating Maura Santos from 17th St. PS I was not a basketball guy because I really sucked at that sport. Hockey was a little kinder to me.
