AMAZIN’
AMAZIN’
AMAZIN’
How about those Metropolitans?
Saw Carmine this morning outside Red’s Shoe Store.
“You pitched great last night,” I said to him.
“Thanks,” he said as he ducked in Rae and Otto’s.
Yesterday someone on sports talk radio in NYC said the Mets should not re-sign Daniel Murphy.
REALLY?
All the guy did last night in the fifth and deciding game of the NLDS was lead the Mets to their biggest win in a long time.
Final score from LA: Mets 3 Dodgers 2.
Murphy had a single, double and home run.
No one has ever hit for the cycle in post-season history.
But, Murphy made an amazing base-running move by going from first to third on a walk. He looked like Charlie Kawas playing softball in P.S. 154 schoolyard.
Dodgers infielders fell asleep at the wheel on a walk with Murphy at first; as he trotted to second base he took off for third after seeing no one covering the bag.
Nothing but focus on that play sports fans.
It’s all about being “heads-up.”
Keeping your head in the game.
Knowing what’s going on.
Murphy scored on a sacrifice fly to right. And to the people who thought the Dodgers outfielder should have dropped the ball in foul territory; no, no, no…what if the guy at bat smashed a home run on the next pitch? Catch the ball. Get the out.
Murphy’s home run was his third of the series.
Not re-sign him?
Come on man…
Game 1 winner Jacob deGrom was the winning pitcher for New York, even though he struggled early.
Mets skipper Terry Collins had Noah Syndergaard warming up in the second inning.
deGrom went six innings with seven strikeouts, and he was relieved by Syndergaard and then Jeurys Familia, who pitched two innings for the save.
It’s funny because someone on Twitter criticized Collins for the move.
Who reads social media anyway?
By the way, Mets manager Terry Collins is a native of Midland, Michigan. Just thought I’d throw that in there.
Pete Iulo and Jack Kelly are excited and dancing in the streets of Windsor Terrace. And I know my main man Edgar is a happy camper out in Staten Island.
Daniel Murphy was the guest on Kiner’s Korner following the game.
The New York Mets move to the NLCS starting this Saturday night at Cit-Field against the Chicago Cubs. New York will have the home field advantage. I know a lot of people are pulling for the Cubs, it’s going to be a great series.
Game one features Matt Harvey vs Jon Lester.
Chicago is three hours from me. Thinking of making the drive to hang out with some Mets fans.
“Ya Gotta Believe!”
