This morning while enjoying a cup of Joe (2% milk and 2 Truvia) I was reading the New York Daily News (on-line edition). I came across this story on Jay Ruiz and a few guys that provide a pretty cool service for the residents of Brooklyn.
Sasha Goldstein of the Daily News writes the story of a group from Brooklyn who call themselves the Brooklyn Bike Patrol.
Started in September 2011, Ruiz formed the group after a spate of sexual assaults in Park Slope, Windsor Terrace and Sunset Park. But he worked all day and then guzzled Red Bull and coffee to stay up late nights keeping other people safe, sometimes providing 50 or 60 walks home a week on little sleep.
On my upcoming visit in November, I’m going to have to visit these guys.
