Someone from the neighborhood has told me that Mr. Dolan has passed away. The Dolan’s lived on 10th avenue between Windsor place and 16th street.
The Dolan’s were a nice family.
My thoughts and prayers go out to them.
The wake is Sunday and Monday. He will be buried on Tuesday. If anyone has any more information, please let me know and I can post it.

The one thing I recall about him was he was a hard worker. He was always involved in something. A strong-work ethic in a nutshell!

Windsor Terrace once again showed the true meaning of what it means to be ” a neighborhood”. Thank you all for the support and expressions of love that you showed Mr. Dolan’s family.

The support and turnout from my fathers neighborhors and friends was very much appreciated and an enormous source of strength for the family. It was very nice to see so many of you take the time and try to ease our pain.
Thanks, Tom

Growing up in the “neighborhood” you could not help to notice, what a hard working loyal family man Mr. Dolan was. It’s a trait to be admired.I rememder doing chores with my father in-law Tony Pinto. I would ask him if we could take a rest.He replied, “we rest when we get to heaven”.So true.
RIP Mr. Dolan

Jim Dolan was a GREAT MAN. I remember many years ago when a bunch of men volunteered to paint Holy Name School. Jim was the take charge guy, I guess I showed up a dozen or so times and everytime he’d be there it took a year to do it but it got done. One thing I’ll always remember about that project was his unending devotion to it, his dignity, and the fact that he never complained about the lack of volunteers. He truly was “A STANDUP GUY”

I have been thinking of Mr. Dolan for weeks, now…
Mr. Dolan has been in my life since I was four years old..if not sooner…during my earlier years, Mr. Dolan was a background father figure….he drove me to swim practice sometimes, picked me up sometimes, let me come along with the newspapers in the back of that green van a lot, drove me to and from CYO a lot, and he and Mrs. Dolan, along with their children, allowed me to find a place amongst their family. That place ranged from being friends with the Dolans close in age to coaching the Dolans who were younger…..all of the Dolans treated me like one of them, which is a huge compliment in and of itself…..
As the years went by, I kept up with the Dolans through Mr. and Mrs. (mostly Mrs.) Dolan. I can’t express how large these two people were/are in my life. They were both at both of my weddings….they’ve watched me raise my children, welcomed me home from Botswana, Namibia, Oregon, California, Connecticut, Baltimore, etc….no matter where I was coming from or going to, I was made to feel welcome. My children were put at ease and welcomed to play…..stopping at the top of Windsor was a focal point in coming home. Coming home was an enormous thing for me, because of all my traveling.
Over the years, Mr. D and I began to talk…he and I would hang out on the corner and talk for a very long time. I really got to know Mr. Dolan and enjoyed his company immensely.
One particular night stands out for me and I really want to share it with the Dolan family. It was snowing very heavily and the snow was piling up…this was not too many years ago….I was at my mom’s house, visiting. I decided to shovel my mom’s stoop and walk.
I began to shovel. The snow was fantastic and it wasn’t too cold. I think it was really really late..like ten? I had such a great time, I kept shoveling. I shoveled all of Windsor place between eleventh up to tenth….(up to tenth because even though the numbers go down, the hill goes up! LOL)….and came upon Mr. Dolan, out shoveling as well. We stood in the snow and talked for an hour…it was really fun. I don’t remember what we talked about but I do remember that it was really quiet and one of the best evenings.
Thanks for sharing your dad, all of you. Thank you so much. Annemarie
