Tommy’s viewing is scheduled for Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home in Parlin, N.J.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Victories R.C. Church in Sayreville. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Pleasant Plains.

Thomas Ryan was a “loyal member” of Iron Workers Union Local #361 for 27 years and a shop steward who had worked on bridges and other structures for over three decades. His son, who bears the same name, also is an iron worker who has toiled on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge with his father, although the son was not present during the accident, a relative said.

“The iron workers have been at the hospital with us crying,” the relative said.
