WHEN I WALK BESIDE HER I AM A BETTER MAN

My daughter Taylor attended her junior prom tonight.

In 1980 I escorted my girlfriend to her senior prom.

I was 15, Maureen was 17.

We had a ball.

Maureen graduated from Saint Saviour High School.

Limousine ride to Bay Ridge.

Hanging out at her classmates house for a bit.

Back in the limo for a trip to Manhattan. Dinner at a hotel.  Then it was time to break night at the Copacabana.

Picture that.

I was 15 years old and standing at the bar next to Robert Redford.

SMH

I believe I arrived home at around 7:00 AM

  1. What a coincidence . Went to my senior prom in 1967 in a limousine and the Copacabana afterward. Was seated at the nearest table to the stage as Diana Ross and the Supremes did a midnight show. The song at the time was “The Happening”. Your note was a nice reminder.

when I think back on those times I think of a song by the Intruders, “Together” a little bit before your time (67) but if you listen to it youll know what I mean. Just you and her

    “Father and daughter”
