The “7” train was rockin’ last night.

Citi-Field was hype.

MLB Network with Bob Costas, John Smoltz and the lovely Sam Ryan were all in the house.

The first place New York Mets took game one of a three game series last night beating the Yankees, 5-1.

Since 2013, the Mets have now won eight out of the last 12 meetings with the Bombers.

The Mets smacked three homers, homers that would make Dave Kingman, Darryl Strawberry and Ed Kranepool smile.

With the game being played in the National league park, the pitchers had to hit. So that meant no DH.  Yankee fans knew they were not going to see Alex Rodriguez. A-Rod his draw a walk in the ninth when Joe Girardi sent him up to pinch-hit.

Some notable Mets fans from the neighborhood:

Carmine, Jimmy Vackner, Jimmy Casey, Jack Kelly and Pete Iulo are very happy today.

By the way, Carmine just told me he pitched last night.

With the loss the Yankees fall four and a half games behind the Jays.

Yankee fans Jimmy Cullen, Tommy Hauk, Joe Lee, Patty Byrnes and Anthony Hajjar pissed as fuck today.

Both clubs back at it this afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05.

Wonder who has the biggest crowd in Farrell’s? Mets fans or Yankee fans?

Yours truly,

Ralph Kiner, Lindsey Nelson and Bob Murphy.
