I still remember the cardboard containers..with that nifty lid you could take off and put on the bottom to reinforce it…

  4. Don Cush says:

Maureen Those were the best containers. Same containers were used at Henry’s deli on Prospect ave for Manhattan Clam chowder

  5. Al Powers says:

Funny…no one wrote an article when the cardboard containers went away. BTW back in the day the containers were used for take out and not for consumption on premises. No one drank a container in the bar like they do now….I would buy one and bring it to my girlfriends Dad when I would go down to her house on 17th Street after I finished my shift at the Park West Deli….I guess the bribe worked…We got married….And her Dad liked me. He always said Farrells had the freshest beer and he wasn’t even a big beer drinker. I hope they find a new cardboard container maker….

Won-ton soup used to come in those same containers, and you are absolutely right, Al..you had a mug at the bar and took a container to go…my nephew’s generation call the containers “Farrelizer’s”
