Received news that Larry has passed away. He was 82.

The Deerr’s lived on the avenue for many years. Larry’s two sons, Richie and Mickey were good guys. His daughter Eileen, was aces.

Solid family.

That’s a great picture of Mr. Deerr. Just the way I remember him when I was a kid living on Ninth Ave. Always had that TV star good looks, a beautiful wife and kids.

For the record, Larry did not serve in the NYPD. He spent his law enforcement career in the erstwhile NYC Transit Police (eventually merged into the NYPD in April, 1995) from 1965 to 1984. I briefly worked with Larry back in the 1970’s and he was one hell of a nice guy—true salt of the earth.

    RIP my friend.
