It’s Saturday morning and boy do I miss the days of waking up and heading over to the schoolyard to play basketball, all day long! I’m thinking of going over to this playground by our house and getting up some shots in memory of all the guys and gals who played ball in the yard on Saturday’s!
These basketball courts out here are always empty!
First off, I wanted to reach out to everyone who has taken time to visit Container Diaries and thank you all. The number of visitors to the blog is outstanding. Thanks to those who have left comments and who have emailed to say hi.
Without you, the reader, this site would probably be in ’suspended operations’ mode.
Enjoy the weekend and remember, feel free to look back at the archive posts located on the right hand side of the blog for entries written in the past. Leave comments on each blog or you can leave a comment in the ‘Comments’ section.
You can always e-mail me with any thoughts, comments or ideas. I can keep your name out if you wish.
Pictures, we are always looking for photos from the past to put on the blog. You can scan them and email them or you can send them in the mail to me and I cam always mail them back to you after I scan them.
I am always looking for a guest blogger. This is your chance to reach out and bring forth your recollections from the greatest neighborhood in the world! E-mail me a draft and I can edit it for you and throw it up on the front page.

What I miss about the school yard was the “FREAK LINE”the whole school yard used to stop what it was doing and join in.There used to be a boom box blasting and people just doing the most creative lay up’s they could think of.In our school yard really not known for High Flyers (not to much dunking) You made your bones by slapping back board,First one hand then with two.I remember playing High School ball and if I was on a fast break my mind would go back to the “FREAK LINE”. My coach would look at me like what the hell was that BL. I’d just say sorry coach It’s just the “FREAK LINE”.LOL Those are great memories.
BL,
The freak line was the best - can’t believe you remembered that! we had a lot of fun. Two lines, music and some creative moves…
Hope you are well.
YA HADDA TO LOVE THE COMP AT THE YARD. JUST WHEN YA THOUGHT YOUR GAME WAS GOOD, JIMMYR OR GERARD TRAPP WOULD SHOW UP AND YOU QUICKLY KNEW THEIR GAME WAS A NOTCH OR TWO (AT LEAST) ABOVE YOURS..
JUST PLAYED TWO GAMES OF FULL COURT LAST WEEK. I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT IT WAS GONNA BE 3 ON 3 .. IT WAS A BLAST AND I HELD UP OKAY. THE OTHER 9 ON THE COURT WERE ALL AROUND 20-21..
MY VERTICAL LEAP IS NOW 34.. 34 SHEETS OF LOOSELEAF!!!!
I STILL LOVE TO PLAY HOOPS..I FEEL LIKE A KID OUT THERE.. IT’S THE LIMPING AFTER THAT STINKS…
I stopped going full court a couple of years ago but I still workout with jumpers from all over and I work on my dribbling drills down and back. Best cardio I could ever do!
THAT IS A GOOD IDEA.. FOR CARDIO , I’VE BEEN SWIMMING AND HOOPS.. RUNNING AND THE BIKE ARE BORING..
All right, by now I’m sure hoopscoach is Red, Inky told me about this site, and now I can’t get off it and get anything done. Did you start this Red? All the way from Michigan? Thanks!!
Randy,
